In her letter, published in Persian by the Committee of Human Rights Reporter, the detained student activist, Shabnam Madadzadeh, describes the difficult conditions of detention in Qarchak-Varamin Prison, where she was detained for a short while.
Ms. Madadzadeh who has been in prison for four years, was transferred back to Evin Prison when many people voiced their concern over her detention in a prison known for its horrendous conditions. Ms Madadzadeh published her testimony when two of her cellmates in Evin, Ms. Kobra Banazadeh and Sediqeh Moradi were transferred to Qarchak-Varamin prison. Ms. Madadzadeh is particularly concerned with this prison's hygienic conditions and highlights serious undernourishment and mistreatment of inmates in Qarchak-Varamin prison.
